MSC at HAPU

Explore. Innovate. Excel.

MSC is a student-led STEM initiative at HAPU designed to increase engagement, teamwork, and enthusiasm across Maths, Science, and Computing.

Originally launched as a competition, MSC has now evolved into a wider, more structured initiative that supports consistent participation, student ownership, and long-term motivation toward STEM learning.

The model is intentionally built to be accessible for students across year groups, while still offering depth, challenge, and opportunities for collaborative leadership through subject-focused delivery.

Through clear planning, department coordination, and practical activity design, MSC aims to create a confident learning culture where students can explore ideas, innovate in teams, and excel through meaningful outcomes.

🧩 Initiative Overview

🔬 STEM Focus

MSC brings Maths, Science, and Computing together through practical, project-based learning that connects classroom concepts to real tasks.

👥 Student Leadership

The initiative is designed around meaningful student leadership, encouraging ownership, responsibility, and confident communication.

🏫 Whole-School Reach

With cross-faculty involvement and department coordination, MSC is structured to support broad participation across key year groups.

🎯 Long-Term Impact

MSC supports sustained STEM confidence by combining teamwork, creativity, and performance-focused outcomes over the full school year.

📦 Delivery & Coordination

All sections excluding Maths begin from the second week after half-term. This ensures the first week back is used for preparation, resource finalisation, and clear whole-school MSC announcements.

The Maths section runs in Summer 1 / Summer 2 during Maths lessons to avoid exam clashes and maintain stable curriculum timing for students.

Delivery is supported through enrichment and subject departments, with a MSC Staff Coordinator ensuring that it maintains consistency and implementation quality.
