About MSC at HAPU

Second Year Delivery Model (2025-26)

MSC (Maths, Science, Computing) is a student-led STEM initiative at HAPU, designed to increase engagement, teamwork, and enthusiasm across Maths, Science, and Computing.

Originally launched as a competition, MSC has grown into a wider initiative under the motto: Explore. Innovate. Excel.

πŸ“¦ Delivery & Coordination

All non-Maths MSC sections begin from the second week after half-term. Week one is used for preparation, resource finalisation, and whole-school announcements.

The Maths section is delivered in Summer 1 / Summer 2 during Maths lessons to reduce exam-period clashes. Delivery is supported by enrichment and subject departments. MSC Staff Coordinator - Ensuring consistent delivery and support across all sections.

πŸš€ 2025-26 Launch Structure

  • Start date: Monday 2nd March.
  • Science (Y7-8): Science for Life Club, led by SOCc.
  • Computing (Y8-9): Coding Club (Tuesdays), led by Yr8/9 Cc.
  • Computing (Y7): Computing activities, led by Yr7 Cc.
  • Maths: Summer 1 / Summer 2 lessons, led by Maths Department.

  • MSC Faculty Trophy for highest overall MSC points.
  • MSC Tutor Group Trophy for top-scoring tutor group.
  • Points from quizzes, projects, collaboration, participation, and performance.
  • Does not affect the school’s standard Faculty Trophy.

  • First run: 7 March to 13 June 2025.
  • Delivered during STEM Week / British Science Week.
  • 15 winners across Maths, Computing, Science, and Combined STEM.
  • 214 students supported to date.
  • Expected 2025-26 participation: approximately 410 students.
